🎹 How Piano Guide Works

Attach the LED Strip

Place the Piano Guide LED strip above your piano keys. Plug the strip into the Piano Guide controller using the supplied cable, then connect the controller to any USB power source.

Connect via Bluetooth

Open the Piano Guide app on your phone. The app automatically scans for your device and connects via Bluetooth — no internet needed for this step.

Connect to WiFi (first time only)

To download songs, connect your Piano Guide controller to your home WiFi. You only need to do this once — the controller remembers your network.

Download & Play Songs

Browse the songs library, download any song to your controller, and press Play. The LED strip lights up each key just before you need to press it — follow the lights and learn at your own pace.

📡 Screen 1 — Finding Your Piano Guide

  1. Open the app. The app immediately starts scanning for your Piano Guide device. You will see "Scanning for Piano Guide…" with a red dot.
  2. Power on your Piano Guide. Make sure the controller is plugged into a USB power source. The device should appear under "PIANO GUIDE FOUND" within a few seconds.
  3. Check the signal strength. The RSSI number (e.g. –51 dBm) shows how close the device is. The closer to 0, the stronger the signal. Keep your phone within 5 meters.
  4. Tap Connect. Tap the Connect button next to your device name to establish the Bluetooth connection.
  5. First time? Read the privacy note — your name, playlists, and settings are stored directly on your Piano Guide hardware, not on any server.
💡 If your device doesn't appear, try unplugging and replugging the controller, then wait 5 seconds.
💡 Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone before opening the app.

✅ Screen 2 — WiFi Connection Status

  1. Green checkmark = connected. This screen confirms your Piano Guide controller is successfully connected to your WiFi network (shown by name).
  2. Tap Continue to proceed to the members and songs area.
  3. Tap "Forget this WiFi" only if you want to switch to a different network. This disconnects the controller from the current network.
  4. Long press the logo at any time to return to the very first Bluetooth scan screen.
  5. Remember to stop playback before leaving the app or switching screens.
💡 Use the 3-dot menu (top right of other screens) to log out of your account.
⚠️ Tapping "Forget this WiFi" will require you to re-enter your WiFi password on the next screen.

  1. Select your WiFi network from the list. Your Piano Guide controller scans and displays all available networks nearby. Scroll down if you don't see yours.
  2. Your network is highlighted with a checkmark once selected. Tap "Change" if you want to pick a different one.
  3. Enter your WiFi password in the password field. Tap the eye icon 👁 on the right to show or hide what you're typing.
  4. Tap Connect. Your Piano Guide controller will attempt to join the network. This may take 5–10 seconds.
  5. On success you will be taken to the WiFi Status screen showing a green checkmark.
💡 Your password is sent directly to the Piano Guide hardware — never stored on any server.
⚠️ Only 2.4 GHz WiFi networks are supported. If your router uses 5 GHz only, the controller will not connect.
💡 Long press the Piano Guide logo at the top to go back to Bluetooth scan at any time.

✏️ Screen 4 — Create Your Account

  1. Choose a nickname (up to 10 characters). This is a display name so family members sharing the same strip can tell accounts apart — e.g. "Mom", "Bijan", "Dad".
  2. Choose a 4-digit passcode. This keeps your playlist private from other family members. The default is 0000.
  3. Confirm your passcode by entering it a second time.
  4. Tap "Create Account." Your account is saved directly on the Piano Guide hardware — not on any server.
  5. Tap the ✕ in the top left to cancel without creating an account.
⚠️ If you forget your passcode, there is no recovery option. You will need to delete your account and create a new one. Your downloaded songs will remain on the device.
💡 You can change your passcode later in Settings after logging in.
💡 If you don't want a passcode, leave both fields as 0000.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

My app can't find the Piano Guide device ▼
Make sure the Piano Guide controller is plugged into a USB power source and powered on. Enable Bluetooth on your phone. Move your phone within 2–3 meters of the controller. If still not found, unplug the controller for 5 seconds and plug it back in, then tap scan again.
The LEDs are not lighting up ▼
Check that the LED strip cable is fully inserted into the controller. Make sure a song is selected and you have pressed Play. If LEDs still don't respond, unplug and replug the controller.
Song download failed ▼
Check your phone's internet connection. Make sure the Bluetooth connection to your Piano Guide is still active (green dot). Try downloading again. If it keeps failing, restart the app and reconnect.
I forgot my passcode ▼
The default passcode is 0000. If you changed it and can no longer log in, you will need to delete your account from the Members screen and create a new one. Your downloaded songs will remain. Contact us below if you need further help.
My WiFi network is not in the list ▼
Only 2.4 GHz networks are supported. If your router broadcasts only on 5 GHz, the controller cannot see it. Check your router settings and enable 2.4 GHz. Also make sure the controller is within range of your router.
How many songs can I store on the device? ▼
The Piano Guide controller can store dozens of songs depending on their length. You can download, play, and delete songs at any time from the Songs screen.
