1. Who we are

Piano Guide is a product of Gemviz Inc., a company incorporated in Canada (Montréal, Québec). This policy covers the Piano Guide iOS application, the Piano Guide LED strip hardware, and our websites including piano-guide.app and piano-guide.com (together, the "Services").

2. Information we do NOT collect

• No account, registration, name, email, or password is required to use the app or download songs.
• No advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics in the app.
• No audio or microphone access — the app never listens to you or your piano.
• No location data. Bluetooth is used only to connect to your LED strip, never to determine where you are.
• No data is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers — ever.

3. Bluetooth and your LED strip

The Piano Guide app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to find and connect to the Piano Guide LED strip. Communication happens directly between your device and your strip — song data is sent to the strip, and connection status is read back. None of this communication passes through our servers.

If you use the optional Wi-Fi setup feature, the network name and password you enter are transmitted directly to your own LED strip over Bluetooth so it can join your home network. We never see, transmit, or store these credentials.

4. Information processed on your device

Songs you download and app settings (such as your last connected device) are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. They remain on your device and under your control; deleting the app deletes them.

5. Website data

When you visit our websites or download songs, our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs: IP address, date and time, browser type, and the page or file requested. We use these logs only to operate the site, measure aggregate traffic, and prevent abuse. They are retained for a limited period and then deleted. Our websites do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

6. Purchases

If you purchase the Piano Guide hardware or a Prime membership, payment is handled by the payment processor or store you buy through (for example, Apple). We receive only what is needed to deliver your order — we never see your full payment card details.

7. Children

Piano Guide is suitable for all ages. Because we collect no personal information, no personal data is knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information through any channel, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We minimize risk by minimizing data: the less we collect, the less can be exposed. Our websites are served over HTTPS, and any operational data is accessible only to authorized personnel of Gemviz Inc.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under Canada's PIPEDA, Québec's Law 25, the EU/UK GDPR, and the California CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to lodge a complaint with your privacy regulator. Since we hold essentially no personal information about you, most requests can be resolved immediately; contact us at the address below to exercise any right.

10. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the Services handle data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
